Four Original Lessons For The Harp - Philip James MeyerThis is another great discovery from the Morley library. Philippe James Meyer (1737-1819) was born in Strasbourg, worked in Paris and finally settled in England in 1784. With Voltaire, he wrote the opera "Samson" and became known as the "young Gluck". His compositions are remarkable for their sensitivity and although many of the movements are technically easy, they make delightful concert pieces. Meyer uses harmonics with great originality and has probably the earliest example in print.

Edited by David Watkins.
