The Harp in Pop and Rock Music - Workshop at Morley Harps with Jennifer Crook

Saturday 16th October 2010
Clive Morley Harps, Goodfellows, Filkins, Lechlade, Glos GL7 3JG
2-5pm

Its official - having a harpist on stage is cool! But what would you do if you were asked to play the harp with a band like Snow Patrol? Jennifer Crook will show you simple, but effective, ways to use the harp in the context of a pop group or rock band, as well as in a more stripped-down situation, with an acoustic singer-songwriter.

She will share ideas for developing harp arrangements using riffs, pedal patterns and other rhythmic techniques, and discuss harmony and song structure.

A basic level of harp technique is required, but beginners are welcome to listen.

£25.

Dusty Strings FH 34 and 36 Harps now available with Delacour Levers

Delacour is a small French company founded in March 2008 by harp engineer, Andre Glémin and harpist, Murielle Schreder Meignen.

Delacour levers have been designed to be completely silent and to maintain the string's original position when engaged. Many players find the innovative circular design to be gentle on the fingers and easier to manipulate.

Delacour levers are available to order on FH 34 and 36 harps. Loveland and Camac levers are also available.

Brand New Princess Sakura Pedal Harp - Effortless Playability from Aoyama

Fit for royalty - and the most demanding harpist!

Exquisite cherry blossom decoration set against a rich natural walnut finish certainly makes this harp stand out from the crowd. Yet the Princess Sakura is not just a pretty face. Aoyama has created a harp that is a joy to play, with quick articulation and responsive pedal action.

Any harpist who is constantly on the move with their harp will also be delighted at how light the Princess Sakura is on her feet. This harp features a full 47 string compass and extended soundboard, yet weighs a mere 28.8kg - about 15% lighter than standard concert harps.

Even better, innovative new construction techniques have allowed Aoyama to significantly reduce the weight and frame size without compromising on the sound quality: The Princess Sakura retains a warm, vibrant and full tone with clear, balanced projection.

Effortless portability and playability in one stunning looking and sounding harp.
